Raised in Memphis, Tennessee, John moved to Missouri as a teenager and spent his high school and college years in Bolivar, Missouri. He graduated from Southwest Baptist University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. He graduated University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1997 and served as clerk for Judge William F. Mauer after law school. John moved back to southwest Missouri in 1998, and over time, has practiced in a mid-size firm, has operated his own practice, and has served as in-house counsel for a major religious nonprofit in the area. Through his nonprofit work, he has developed an extensive practice in estate planning, wills, trusts, planned giving, charitable giving and non-profits. In private practice, he enjoys focusing in the areas of estate planning, trusts, business and LLC planning, complex transactions, and real estate, working with families and small business owners to create plans that are flexible and can grow with them over the years while protecting assets for the future. John enjoys spending time with his wife and six children, is an avid reader, a local food and coffee aficionado, and is active in his church and local nonprofits.
